+ What is a casement Window?

Casement windows are the type of windows you normal see that swing outwards. However, there are different varition that may allow you to open inwards as well.

+ Where are casement windows installed?

Casements windows are best installed at locations where they typically do not obstruct the spaces adjacent to them when they are fully open. An HDB corridor is a great example of places where casement window should not be installed. Users also benefit from having the ability of opening their space to more air and light. In addition, casement windows are normally more soundproof than sliding windows, hence, for a better performance, you can also opt for a casement windows for better optimal soundproofing quality.

+ What are the few different types of casement windows?

There are several casement configurations available, this includes: 1. top-hung windows (commonly seen in toilets) where window can be opened for ventilation and prevent water from coming into the room with the handles and opening at the bottom 2. bottom-hung windows where window can be slightly from the top with its handles are on the top. It is great for ventilation in places where water will not tend to seep in. 3. Turn-and-tilt windows are a special windows normally seen in European countries. It allow the user to open both inwards like a normal casement windows as well as a bottom hung function for ventilation when needed.

+ What is the difference between a casement window and a soundproof casement window?

A soundproof casement windows is customized to create extremely small to negligible air gaps. You can learn more about the design of soundproof windows here: https://noiseplaster.com/blog/2020/12/2/the-3-most-important-things-to-know-about-soundproof-windows

+ Can a casement window be made soundproof with a uPVC frame?

It might be possible BUT there are many factors that go into making a window soundproof, the material used for the frame is but one factor. What makes our patented AluK alumnium-based windows stand out is its excellent fit between hardware and profile, durability, overall lightweight construction compared to its strength in being able to accomodate multiple thicker glass combinations that play a significant factor in noise reduction. You can learn more here: https://noiseplaster.com/blog/2020/12/14/why-aluminium-is-superior-to-upvc-in-soundproofing

+ Can a casement window be made soundproof without a double glazed glass?

It depends. If you are considering a single layer of glass compared to a specialised composition of glasses ordered to specifications to defeat specified noises or even just double glazed glass for instance. It would not be hard to imagine that the sound reduction would be worse with just a single glass.

+ Are all soundproof glass created equal when it comes to soundproof windows?

While we recommend using double glazed glass for the best soundproofing, we explain the difference between the types of soundproof glass here: https://noiseplaster.com/double-glazed-glass

+ What kinds of noise can you block from sound proof casement windows?

We are able to block noise from all frequencies. Depending on the system and components selected, there will be variability in the performance across frequencies.

+ What kind of noises you cannot block from sound proof casement windows?

Structural noise which comes from walls being too thin, ceiling noise and similar where the source and path of noise has nothing to do with windows.

+ What are some of the reasons our customers require soundproof casement windows?

Some of the reasons are to block out very loud and disruptive noise from nearby MRT tracks, highways, schools or multi story carparks. You can look at some examples of out projects here: https://noiseplaster.com/casement-window-completed-installations, https://noiseplaster.com/sliding-window-completed-installations

+ How long do installations typically take and what kind of disruption can you expect?

Typically half a day for a standard window replacement. Depending on the number of replacements and operating restrictions imposed by building management if any, it might take slightly longer than that.

+ Besides soundproofing, what are the additional benefits of using soundproof glass?

Depending on the type, soundproof glass can reduce UV by up to 99% and also reduce heat by 30 to 80% which means a cooler home and savings on the cooling costs. You can find more details here: https://noiseplaster.com/double-glazed-glass
